Kayla~Bayla's Cool MOM PICKS! 4 the Kid in YOU!

As cool as my Lil Kayla~Bayla and friends are; I can’t help but to know that they get their creativity, nature, and expression through their just as cool MOMS (parents). With that these entries “Coolmompicks” will be in reflection of Mom's and their greatest inspiration... Their Children!

Please feel free to contact me with any information or reflection you would like to see posted via this forum to share with other parents and fellow “Lemonheads” alike! Remember our kids are only as strong as their foundation and only as fulfilled with the world we unfold before them….

Let it always be plentiful!

books, Books, BOOKS!!!

Comedy, Mystery or just a fan of a really good story? Books hold the key to your imagination and so much more!

I always read a book with my homework but the more I read the more I come across books I can’t put down, and to me that is exciting!
I now love something I thought I would not like and to find so many different things and interest in between there pages.
I am a fan of the “Goosebumps” series by R.L. Stein or funny books like “The Diary of a Wimpy Kid” –

But my family and I also use cookbooks for great treats, craft books and even coloring books and photo books.
They are great ways to share, learn and even invent! The more I read the different ways I see books are used for more than just homework.

Some books we recommend for the month of October are:

Scrambled E: Quackenstein Hatches the Family by Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen

The Monster Princess: by D. J. MacHale

The Halloween Kid by Rhode Montijo

Healthy Foods & Snacks 101 Pt. 2

It's amazing how much good nutrition you can sneak into a drink. In fact, a single glass of 100 percent juice supplies one of the recommended five daily servings of fruit or vegetables.
Offer the drinks in mugs, cartoon glasses or wine glasses. Don't forget the crazy straws.

BANANA SCREAM

3 bananas (the riper the banana, the sweeter the shake)
2 tbsp. nonfat milk
Peel the bananas, cut in half width-wise, wrap in plastic wrap, and freeze until firm. Place in a blender,
add milk and puree until creamy. Serves 4.

JUNGLE JUICE

1 1/2 cups nonfat milk
1/2 cup grape juice
1 banana, sliced
Put milk, juice and banana in a blender and mix until smooth. For more vibrant color, add a few drops of purple food coloring. Serves 2.

MAKE-A-SHAKE

Combine two favorite drinks to create a refreshing new taste. Try grape juice and orange juice, strawberry nectar and pineapple juice, lemonade and soda water, or chocolate milk and 2 teaspoons of melted smooth peanut butter. For a frosty drink, add ice and blend.

Healthy Foods & Snacks 101 Pt. 1

I learned the trick of serving frozen treats when my toddlers started teething. The cold felt good on their gums, and it got them to eat something. They loved to eat frozen fruit, suck on frozen juice pops and crunch fruit juice ice spooned from paper cups.

ARCTIC ORANGES

4 oranges
4 cups orange juice
4 cherries
Cut the tops off the oranges in a zigzag pattern. Hollow out the insides, remove the seeds and combine in a blender with the juice. Set the rinds in a muffin tin and fill with the mixture. Drop a cherry inside each orange. Freeze for 2 to 3 hours. Soften the treats for 5 minutes, then serve. Makes 4.

BANANA POPS

3 bananas
6 Popsicle sticks
1/4 cup peanut butter, softened
1/4 cup chopped peanuts or walnuts, granola, crispy rice cereal or sunflower seeds
Peel the bananas. Cut them in half, widthwise, and push a Popsicle stick through the cut end of each half. Spread peanut butter on the bananas, then roll them in the nuts, cereal or seeds. Wrap them in waxed paper and freeze for 3 hours. Makes 6.

FROZEN FRUIT SALAD

Freeze the following bites for a fast and frosty treat: grapes, pineapple chunks, peach slices, apricot slices, banana slices, apple slices, cantaloupe balls, watermelon chunks, peas, zucchini slices, cucumber slices, orange wedges and fruit leather.

SEA SHELLS

8 jumbo pasta shells
1 cup tuna or egg salad filling
1/2 cup grated cheese (optional)
Cook the pasta shells. Drain and rinse in cold water. Fill each shell with tuna or egg salad, then sprinkle with grated cheese, if desired. (Or stuff the filling into hollowed-out cherry tomatoes, green peppers or cream puff shells.) Serves 4.

PEANUT BUTTER PINWHEELS

Spread creamy or chunky peanut butter and a little bit of honey on a fresh flour tortilla (available in the refrigerator section of most grocers). Sprinkle with granola, roll up the tortilla, then slice it into bite-size pinwheels.

Can You Tell Me How Do Ya Get.. How You Get To Sesame Street!

EATING HEALTHY...

Kayla's Mom here, eating healthy has always been something that comes naturally for our family; my father being a teacher always introduced me to new and tasty fruits & veggies and exciting ways to eat them. Naturally this stuck with me throughout my adulthood and a core when I had a Lil Kayla-Bayla and X-man.

We eat fruit like it's candy (and not the other way around) and while it still takes some imagination to get some veggies down or a helping in with every meal these little ones are dedicated to eating well as a lifestyle.

You can imagine how excited they were to share a moment with favorite characters from Sesame Street in dedication to "Food 4 Thought  Eating Well on a Budget" Campaign shoot w/ Rosita!

And afterwards mom treated to a host of unique, perfectly strange new and familiar produce from the Farmers Market and even our very own HERB GARDEN that now grows in our kitchen...

Here is to everyone who wants or continues to eat well... Stay tunned for GREAT HEALTHY RECIPES HERE ON....

On Set w/ Dream Mining "It's All Good" Ftr. Kelsey, Kayla~Bayla & Friends!

It's September and NYC is filled with life and the buzz of people on the streets...

That's an understatement here on the set of Dream Mining featuring "Kelsey" and a gang of young/tween kids performing to a great upbeat number called "It's All Good!" right in the heart of The Big Apple NYC!

The energy here is high as everyone is excited to be apart of this great upstart project-
And what cool kids don't love the magic of dance & music all wrapped into one?!

Kayla~Bayla & Chyna
(of Kayla~Bayla's Lemonade Stand and Chyna Doll's House) were two of the youngest performers to be picked for the opportunity and shinned their brightest at the chance. After hair and wardrobe {which captured some of falls greatest looks with colored jeans, hip foot wear, headbands and colors that POPPED!} the girls had the opportunity to meet with other great talent and youth throughout the tri-state area, shut down a NY city block and even rock out rooftop style over the Metropolis below which made for a magical backdrop!
Come recap with us- Ask questions and leave comments because there is a lot more where that came from, HERE ON...

THE ABC's of GOING BACK 2 SCHOOL... EARLY

School started off easy enough for my brother and me, but for us that meant starting school 2weeks before everyone else!

I was excited, nervous and even a little disappointed summer was over so soon but a few tips that helped me make my start easy, fun and fall right back into step with friends and learning were as easy as ABC !

A.   Be Prepared – my school has lots of rules (they even call us in before school starts to help prepare), it helped me not be nervous, on time and come prepared to begin school.

B.  Learn New Things – I knew I would learn new things that would help me.My parents and school made me excited about new things to learn with a list of trips, projects and telling me what some of the new subjects and lessons would be about!

C.  Have Fun! – even SCHOOL can be fun if you are prepared and ready to learn, being positive makes things easier and interesting.

With tips like these no matter what school you go to it will prepare you for exciting new things, friends and school year ahead.

Enjoy Lemonheads!

KITTENS 101

My mom, My brother, and I went to a shoot for Kittens 101 for ANIMAL PLANET this past Friday. We saw tons of different kinds of breeds of kittens.I really wanted to see a hairless cat and I got my wish - I saw a hairless cat!

There  was this cat named Fishy that I fell in love with. I didn't want to put her down, she got comfortable on me and fell asleep on me she looked so cute and cozy. She was a playful kitten and the smallest out of her sisters and brothers. They loved to play and  some of the cats were trying to get away and I helped catch them .They didn't even scratch me because they were so comfortable on me. In between playing with the kittens back stage my brother and I were also able to play with the different kinds of kitten breeds on the set.

I had lots of fun I hope I can do it again!

Welcome 2 Kayla~Bayla's Lemonade Stand

Mission: Kayla-bayla's Lemonade Stand is a "Young Girl - Tween" community of sharing, gathering and networking of new and different brands, interest, shows and ideas that effect the Urban Young Girl.

As with most up and coming girls/tweens, Kayla is a very talented, inquisitive and vivacious individual. Her talents and network has exposed her to a great many brands, interest and likes that she is often opinionated and anxious to share. While an avid reader, she adores her time to plan out the ultimate game of dress-up, rehearsals for various Off-Broadway plays, as well as working on her next degree Karate belt while remaining an "A" student. Look out for this one day inspired entrepreneur/ veterinarian/ entertainer and her buzz on many great things to come.

Also check out frequently updated YouTube page of favorite Media, Videos & Commercials as well as uploaded clips of Kayla & Friends -
